Kota Elok begins operation of the ES1 route at Rio Brasil Terminal
PIL’s container ship made its inaugural call at the Brazilian terminal during the first voyage of the service connecting Asia and South America.
The container ship Kota Elok, operated by PIL, made its inaugural call at Rio Brasil Terminal (RBT), Brazil, during the first voyage on the East Coast Service 1 (ES1) route. The service connects Asia and South America.
The arrival was marked by an onboard ceremony. RBT representatives presented a commemorative plaque to Captain Kan Liang, the vessel’s captain, to mark the start of the service’s operations at the terminal.
In a publication attributed to PIL, the company highlighted that the call took place at a terminal described as the first carbon-neutral port on South America’s east coast. The company linked the occasion to initiatives focused on sustainability in maritime transport.
The Kota Elok has a nominal capacity of 13,064 TEU, is 336 meters long, and is 51 meters wide. After calling in Brazil, the vessel will proceed to calls in Argentina and Uruguay.
